Dr. Ryan Kowalski

Born and raised in Abbotsford BC, the Fraser Valley has always been home to Ryan and his family. He spent the majority of his childhood growing up in Abbotsford, but also spent some time living in Prince George, Prince Albert and Portland throughout the years.

Ryan has been engrained in the community of the Fraser Valley since a very young age, as hockey was the forefront of his life in his early years. Later on, he spent 3 years playing in the Western Hockey League, where he chased his dream of becoming a professional athlete.

As life goes, things change and people move on. Ryan’s next chapter took him down to Portland, Oregon where he would pursue his Doctorate in Chiropractic. While living in Portland, Ryan had the chance to work under some prominent Doctors in the field of Chiropractic and truly learn the ropes. Spending some time with the past US Olympic Team Chiropractor and the team Chiropractors for the Portland Timbers and Portland Winterhawks.

During these invaluable experiences, Ryan had a chance to learn a wide variety of techniques used to treat a large range of different conditions. This has helped Ryan truly be a well rounded and holistic healthcare worker.

Ryan’s focus during treatment is patient first. Understanding what the problem is, why the problem is present and the different ways to go about treating them. Of course Chiropractic is a physical task and skill, however understanding patients emotional state and well being is an important, and often overlooked, responsibility that Ryan takes great satisfaction with.

Whether you are dealing with a nagging injury and chronic pain, or something brand new and acute. Ryan is well versed in treating a large range of conditions and will always offer an honest, approachable and reasonable path to health and well being.

‘Having been an athlete pretty much my entire life, health and fitness is something that comes naturally to me. I started playing hockey around the age of 4 and worked my way to the WHL before retiring and realizing there was a life outside of hockey. Following my hockey career I ventured into Kinesiology which has its focus in human movement. During my years playing hockey and training, I always had such a fascination with how the body moved and adapted. I spent 4 years at the University of the Fraser Valley to earn my Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology. My next move was down to Portland Oregon, to become a Doctor of Chiropractic. I am an avid hiker, skier/snowboarder and really, anything outdoors brings me a lot of joy. I like to play hockey, read, be with friends and learn more about the human body day in and day out. My ultimate goal as a caregiver is to provide patients with a very comforting and unique experience that is based on solid communication, trust, support, autonomy and excellent passive care.’ Dr. Kowalski
